Leipzig Book Fair 2026 to focus on Danube region

The Leipzig Book Fair is scheduled to take place from March 19 to 22, 2026. Following a previous year that drew nearly 300,000 visitors, the 2026 event will feature the Danube region as its central theme under the title “Danube – Under Current and Between Worlds,” exploring history, identity, and societal shifts.

The program includes over 2,000 events across the city and fairgrounds through the “Leipzig liest” reading festival. Featured international authors include Leïla Slimani and Arne Dahl, alongside Sebastian Fitzek and Marc-Uwe Kling. Specialized sections will also highlight the “New Adult” community and the Traduki literature and translation network, which will present contemporary Southeast European voices in a dedicated “Kafana” space.
