Leipzig implements new traffic safety and social integration measures
The City of Leipzig is implementing several urban and social initiatives. To address noise pollution and improve safety, a 30 km/h speed limit is being introduced on Theresienstraße and a section of Lützner Straße in Lindenau. These measures aim to reduce noise levels and decrease accident risks for pedestrians, students, and cyclists. Additionally, Theresienstraße will see the installation of wider, newly marked bicycle lanes to prevent 'dooring' accidents and improve cycling infrastructure.
On the social front, the 'Engagement. Impuls' series will hold a session on September 16, 2026, focusing on integration and volunteering. This program, supported by the City of Leipzig and the Freiwilligen-Agentur Leipzig, provides individual counseling to help newcomers find volunteer roles that match their interests.
Furthermore, the city administration is participating in the 'Überstunde' after-work networking event at the New Town Hall. The event features various municipal departments, including economic development and international cooperation, showcasing city services and providing tours of the town hall's historic sites.
