Leipzig launches pitch competition for music industry
The City of Leipzig has launched an idea pitch competition aimed at strengthening the regional music industry. The initiative targets companies and solo entrepreneurs in sectors such as labels, publishing, management, booking, promotion, marketing, production, and distribution.
To qualify, applicants must have a registered office or place of business in Leipzig, though companies planning a near-term relocation to the city are also eligible. The competition seeks innovative ideas to advance the local music economy, including new products, services, market expansion, organizational improvements, or the expansion of production capacities.
Implemented by the Landesverband der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e. V. on behalf of the City of Leipzig, the pitch is part of a broader series of programs running from September to December 2026. Partners for the project include LE:NXT and BPM Sachsen.
A professional jury will select six projects based on professionalism, feasibility, and originality. These finalists will present their ideas publicly on December 8, 2026, at R42. Each of the six selected pitches will receive 2,500 euros, with an additional 1,000 euros awarded to the audience's favorite via the ‘PitchPerfect’ vote. The application deadline is October 22, 2026.
