Leipzig inaugurates new 120 million euro education campus
The city of Leipzig has officially inaugurated a new modern education campus located at Lene-Voigt-Park. The project, which cost approximately 120 million euros, serves nearly 2,000 children across various educational levels.
The campus includes the Wilhelm-Busch-Schule, the Schule Schraderhaus at its new location on Täubchenweg, the 125th Oberschule, and an integrative daycare center. The development also features a new sports hall with six playing fields and a mobile grandstand for 199 spectators, which is expected to be available for use after the autumn holidays.
Mayor Burkhard Jung described the opening as a milestone for the Leipzig educational landscape and a significant benefit for the local district. The construction of the Wilhelm-Busch-Schule and its sports hall received 14.4 million euros in funding from the Free State of Saxony. The new facilities increase primary school capacity by three classes and provide much-needed relief for the local school system.
