Leipzig opens new fitness park at Cospudener See
A new outdoor fitness park has opened at the north beach of Cospudener See in Leipzig. The facility features a compact calisthenics installation including elements such as racks, a wall bars, a human flag station, a hanging arch, and various modules for abdominal and strength training.
The project was funded by the Leipzig Office for Sport and implemented by the Office for Urban Greenery and Waterways. It was developed as part of the ‘Berlin+’ initiative, which serves as a joint bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games involving Leipzig as a co-partner alongside regions in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Heiko Rosenthal, Leipzig's Mayor and Olympic Officer, stated that the initiative aims to make sport immediately accessible and a part of daily life, providing sustainable impulses regardless of the final decision on the Olympic bid, which is expected on September 26, 2026.
