Leipzig plans ‘German Vietnam Hub’ to boost economic ties

The city of Leipzig is planning to establish a ‘German Vietnam Hub’ to serve as a central interface for Vietnamese companies operating in Germany. The initiative aims to provide a consolidated advisory structure to facilitate economic cooperation, investments, and knowledge transfer between Germany and Vietnam.

Economic Mayor Clemens Schülke, representing Mayor Burkhard Jung, and Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection Dirk Panter met with the Vietnamese Ambassador to discuss the project. Schülke noted that the hub seeks to build a bridge for businesses, leveraging Leipzig’s 75-year history of relations with Vietnam and its city partnership with Ho Chi Minh City.

The visit also aligns with a planned professional delegation trip by the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs to Vietnam in September 2026, focusing on sectors such as environmental and energy technology, water management, and railway technology.
