Leipzig to host discussion on masculinity and gender equality
A public discussion titled “Does the country need new men?” is scheduled for November 19, 2026, at the Moritzbastei in Leipzig. The event aims to address gender roles, expectations of masculinity, and the role men can play in achieving gender equality through dialogue rather than conflict.
The panel features diverse perspectives, including author Hendrik Bolz, Amanos Mohammad from LAG Jungenarbeit, Michael Ruschitschka from the Leipzig Police Directorate, and feminist creator Svenja Fuchs. The session will be moderated and framed by masculinity researcher Christoph May.
The event is a collaboration between the City of Leipzig’s departments for Gender Equality and Migration and Integration, the Kommunaler Eigenbetrieb Leipzig/Engelsdorf, TelefonSeelsorge Leipzig, and Moritzbastei. It is co-financed by tax funds based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
