Leipzig to host documentary screening of DJ Vika for International Day of Older Persons
To mark the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, the Polish Institute Berlin - Leipzig Branch, in collaboration with the City of Leipzig, will host a special women's cinema event. The screening features the documentary film ‘Vika!’, which follows 85-year-old Wirginia Szmyt, known as DJ Vika, Poland's oldest female DJ, as she performs in Warsaw clubs.
The film explores themes of aging, societal expectations, and the freedom to reinvent oneself later in life. The event will include a public discussion with Sibylle Kuhne, the German voice actress for DJ Vika, who will provide insights into the production of the German version. The screening is free to the public and will take place at the Polish Institute in Leipzig.
