Leipzig to renovate Haus 6 in Robert-Koch-Park for cultural use
The City of Leipzig has approved the renovation of Haus 6 in the Robert-Koch-Park to support socio-cultural activities in the Grünau district. While the park and its buildings have been owned by the city since 2021, the vacant Haus 5 and Haus 6 have suffered from vandalism and decay.
Due to budget constraints, the city cannot afford a full six-million-euro renovation for both buildings simultaneously. Instead, the decision focuses on securing and restoring Haus 6. The building is intended to house a café on the ground floor and offices on the upper floor, similar to its previous use.
Renovations will include updating the district heating station, repairing sanitary facilities, and performing cosmetic repairs to floors, walls, ceilings, windows, and doors, as well as repairing the roof and facade. Work is expected to begin this year, with the goal of the Kulturpark gGmbH taking over the building in the first half of 2027.
