Leipzig to transform Gottschedstraße 16 into ‘Haus der Festivals’

The cultural site at Gottschedstraße 16 in Leipzig is undergoing a major redevelopment to become the ‘Haus der Festivals’. The project aims to centralize several prominent cultural festivals by providing them with modern office and conference spaces.

As part of the renovation, the event hall will be modernized for multifunctional use. The Jazzclub Leipzig e. V. will serve as the primary tenant, transforming the space into a year-round venue. Other organizations expected to utilize the facility include Leipziger DOK-Filmwochen GmbH, LeipJazzig e. V., euro-scene Leipzig, the Schumann-Verein e. V., and the Leipziger Literarischer Herbst GbR.

Cultural Mayor Dr. Skadi Jennicke noted that the project pools resources to strengthen the Leipzig cultural landscape through shared infrastructure and networking. The current estimated construction costs for the project are approximately 17.33 million euros.
