Leipzig track construction to disrupt tram and car traffic

Major track construction and maintenance works are scheduled for Augustusplatz and the Leipzig main station (Hauptbahnhof) in October and November 2026.

At Augustusplatz, the track junction from Georgiring to Grimmaischer Steinweg will be renewed. This will result in a tram service interruption between Roßplatz and Augustusplatz from October 12 to November 8, 2026. Tram lines 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, and N10 will be diverted via Goerdelerring. Individual traffic will face closures until November 13, 2026.

Simultaneously, maintenance at the main station will continue through the autumn holidays. Tracks A and B will remain closed until October 25, 2026, affecting tram lines 1, 3, and 38. Additionally, maintenance at the Paunsdorf tram station from October 19 to 23 will require the diversion of tram line 7 and the implementation of a rail replacement service (SEV 7) between Wiebelstraße and Paunsdorf-Nord.
