Leiria Book Fair returns with theme of community and reconstruction

The third edition of Versátil – Feira do Livro de Leiria will take place from October 31 to November 8 at Mercado Santana. Under the theme ‘O Comum’ (The Common), the event features more than 40 writers, artists, and thinkers.

Curated by Isabel Lucas and Nuno Artur Silva, this year's programming focuses on the importance of community ties and shared spaces following the destructive storms that impacted the region earlier this year. The event aims to use culture, literature, music, and cinema to discuss how populations rebuild and maintain social cohesion.

Key participants include authors such as José Luís Peixoto, Gonçalo M. Tavares, Isabela Figueiredo, and Luísa Sobral. The schedule includes discussions on daily life, territory, and social relations, alongside musical performances and a strong emphasis on children's literature and school engagement.
