Leiria Municipality approves 1.2 million euros for City Hall repairs

The Municipality of Leiria has approved a direct award of 1.2 million euros to repair significant damage to the Paços do Concelho (City Hall) caused by severe weather. The project, which has a base price of approximately 1.19 million euros plus VAT, is expected to take 270 days to complete.

Municipal Works Councilor Ricardo Santos stated that exceptional wind and precipitation compromised the building's watertightness, leading to heavy water infiltration. The damage is particularly concentrated in the oldest part of the structure, affecting roofs, window frames, and interior elements.

Specialized conservation and restoration work will be required in the Salão Nobre (Grand Hall) to address damage to the stucco ceiling, moldings, and woodwork. The project also includes deep repairs to the roof to replace displaced or degraded tiles, as well as a revision of the building's electrical installations.
