Leisure developments announced for Cardiff and Porthcawl

The DEPOT in Cardiff has unveiled plans for DEPOT Padel, a new 25,000 sq ft indoor padel club scheduled to open in spring 2027. Located behind the existing live music and events venue, the facility will feature four doubles courts, two singles courts, changing facilities, a warm-up area, and social spaces. The project aims to expand the DEPOT brand into the sports and leisure sector as part of a broader vision to create a multi-use destination.

In Porthcawl, Bridgend County Borough Council is seeking interest from businesses to operate temporary leisure facilities at Coney Beach. Proposed interim attractions include padel courts, crazy golf, surf lessons, street food, and children’s play areas. These pop-up offerings are intended to maintain seafront activity while long-term regeneration plans for the waterfront undergo consideration. The site is expected to be cleared by the end of March to facilitate these temporary uses.
