Lejla Njemčević wins sixth Balkan cycling title

Bosnian cyclist Lejla Njemčević secured her sixth Balkan Championship gold medal with a dominant victory at the competition held in Romania. The event, which also served as a UCI C2 race, featured a challenging 72-kilometer course with 2,500 meters of elevation gain.

Njemčević maintained the lead from the start, finishing 39 minutes and 42 seconds ahead of runner-up Mada Miruna of Romania. This victory earned her 30 UCI ranking points and established her as the most successful female cyclist in the history of the Balkan Championships, holding six gold medals in the Elite category and two silver medals in the U23 category.

Following this third UCI victory of the season, Njemčević is scheduled to begin altitude training for the upcoming World Championships in Italy on September 12, followed by the World Cup finale in Girona, Spain.
