Veteran Journalist Oloye Lekan Alabi Dies at 76
Veteran journalist and traditional chief Oloye Lekan Alabi died on Saturday morning in Lagos at the age of 76. He held the title Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland and had served as press secretary to four successive Oyo State governors, as well as a cultural ambassador for the National Commission for Museums and Monuments in Ile‑Ife.
Family members said he will be buried on Sunday in Ibadan in accordance with Islamic rites. President Bola Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, Olubadan Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and other civic groups issued statements describing his death as a monumental loss to journalism, public relations and Yoruba culture.
