Leke Abejide launches Yoruba empowerment initiative in Kano

Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kogi State, has launched a grassroots empowerment initiative targeting one million Yoruba residents in Kano State. The program aims to provide economic support to vulnerable groups, including widows, youths, women, artisans, entrepreneurs, and the less privileged.

Announced at the palace of the Oba of Yoruba Kano, the initiative includes a 27-member committee tasked with coordinating mobilization and assistance across Kano’s 44 local government areas. Abejide emphasized the need for transparency and fairness to ensure aid reaches genuine beneficiaries.

The lawmaker noted that the drive also serves as a mobilization effort for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. Abejide, who has lived and conducted business in Kano, stated the program combines community welfare with political engagement ahead of the next presidential election.
