LekkeSlaap acquired by South African investor consortium
South African accommodation booking platform LekkeSlaap has been acquired by a consortium of local investors. The acquisition marks a transition from founder-led ownership to a new group of investors focused on regional expansion across Southern Africa.
The deal was jointly led by Bellair Road Investment Partners and Janic Capital, with participation from the Ferreira Family Office, the Moolman Family Office, and Investec. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the existing executive team, led by CEO Frans Joubert, will remain in place to manage daily operations. Members of the management team also invested alongside the consortium.
Co-founders Jonathan Womersley and Marcel van de Ghinste, along with other long-standing shareholders, will exit the company. New leadership additions to the board include Chairman Herman Bosman and investor Robert Paddock. Since its official launch in 2013, LekkeSlaap has grown to connect travelers with approximately 40,000 properties and has served over nine million guests.
