Lelio Massimo di Roccasecca sets Mont Blanc climbing record at age nine

Lelio Massimo di Roccasecca, a nine-year-old boy from Rome, has set a record by becoming the youngest person to climb Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps at 4,807 meters. Accompanied by his father, Valerio Massimo—an experienced climber who has summited Mount Everest—Lelio reached the summit on September 4.

Lelio previously climbed the Gran Sasso at age five. His father stated that the achievement was not driven by a desire for records, but by the boy's genuine love for the mountains.

In separate alpine news, the Parco Naturale delle Prealpi Giulie in Italy has announced temporary closures for repairs on hiking trail No. 632 at Monte Canin due to erosion caused by overtourism. Additionally, search efforts continue for Canadian mountain runner Kalie McCrystal, who has been missing for two weeks after attempting a record climb of the Matterhorn via the Liongrat route.
