Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan promotes financial literacy across Indonesia

The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) is conducting various initiatives to strengthen financial literacy and public trust in the national banking system. In Gorontalo, the LPS held a Media Meet Up to educate journalists on the institution's role in guaranteeing customer deposits and maintaining financial stability. The program aims to help media members distinguish between licensed and unlicensed banks to prevent the public from falling victim to illegal financial practices.

Additionally, LPS partnered with Warta Ekonomi to host a 'Campus to Community' seminar at Universitas Pamulang in South Tangerang. The event focused on the role of universities in driving financial literacy for the unbanked population. During the seminar, LPS Director Nicolas Silalahi highlighted concerns regarding Gen Z, noting that 52% of this demographic has diverted investment funds toward sports betting. Officials emphasized the importance of distinguishing legal, analyzed investments from prohibited gambling activities.
