Lembaga Tabung Haji strengthens finances and governance through reforms
Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has successfully strengthened its financial position, governance, and institutional resilience through reforms implemented since 2018. These efforts follow findings from a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) which highlighted management and operational weaknesses between 2014 and 2020.
Currently, 75 percent of the RCI's recommendations have been implemented, with the government committed to completing the remaining 25 percent. Key improvements include asset restructuring, enhanced financial reporting standards, strengthened governance processes, and more disciplined approaches to profit distribution and risk management.
Experts note that the institution's recent performance—including the 3.50 percent profit distribution announced for the 2025 financial year—demonstrates the effectiveness of its recovery and transformation processes. The focus remains on protecting depositors' savings, maintaining financial stability, and ensuring the institution can continue to facilitate Hajj pilgrimages for Malaysian Muslims.
