Lembruch: 8-year-old alerts police to mother's drunk driving
An 8-year-old girl in Lembruch, Lower Saxony, alerted emergency services after her mother began driving erratically. The child used the car’s hands-free system to call the police, reporting that the vehicle was swerving and repeatedly entering oncoming traffic.
Dispatchers remained in contact with the girl via the hands-free system, allowing them to track the vehicle's location as the mother continued to drive dangerously. Police were able to intercept the car on Wagenfelder Straße.
Upon stopping the vehicle, officers found the 40-year-old driver showed clear signs of intoxication and was “not fit to drive.” A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.91 per mille. Authorities seized her driver's license and took a blood sample for further testing.
