Lemon and Baking Soda Tips for Cleaner Ovens and Exhaust Fans

A natural method using lemon peel in a warm oven can break down grease and neutralise strong cooking odors. The citric acid and essential oils evaporate with residual heat, softening fat and leaving a fresh scent without harsh chemicals.

For kitchen exhaust fans, regular maintenance is advised: remove metal filters every 2–3 weeks and soak them in hot water with baking soda, dish detergent, and optionally white vinegar. After a 20‑30 minute soak, scrub, rinse and dry before reinstalling. Clean the exterior with a damp microfiber cloth and avoid abrasive tools. Deep cleaning of the motor and ductwork should be done at least semi‑annually, or a professional may be consulted if performance remains poor.
