Lemonade posts 79% revenue surge and $43 M loss in Q2 2026

Lemonade reported second‑quarter 2026 revenue of $294.4 million, a 79% increase year over year. Gross earned premium rose to $332.4 million, up 32%, and in‑force premium reached $1.43 billion, also up 32% from the prior year. Gross profit climbed to $113.2 million, a 76% gain, while the net loss narrowed to $43.4 million from $43.9 million in Q2 2025. The insurer added about 3.3 million customers, a 23% rise, and reduced its quota‑share cession rate to roughly 18% from 20% at the July 1 reinsurance renewal.

Lemonade’s full‑year 2026 revenue guidance was set at $1.21‑$1.22 billion, but its in‑force premium midpoint of $1.632‑$1.639 billion fell short of Wall Street’s target of over $1.642 billion. Following the earnings release, the company’s share price dropped about 22% in trading.
