Tomás Zambrano announces regional development projects in Honduras

Honduran National Congress President Tomás Zambrano is conducting a series of regional tours to address infrastructure, social, and security needs across various departments.

In Lempira, Zambrano announced upcoming investment projects in health, education, and infrastructure for municipalities including Tambla, Valladolid, and Tomalá. He specifically noted that Tambla will receive support for water, roads, and health services during its 130th anniversary. Additionally, the municipality of Tomalá is working with the Honduran Institute of Tourism to remodel the El Cerrito tourist area.

In Yoro, Zambrano highlighted development plans for Olanchito, including the replacement of 1,200 electric poles through 2028 and upcoming tenders for the Tourist Corridor highway and the Eddie Acosta boulevard. During a visit to Olanchito, deputies also provided 350,000 lempiras in donations to support local agriculture and livestock producers.

National statistics also highlight ongoing social challenges in Honduras. Traffic accidents have resulted in 1,403 deaths between January and September 2026, with motorcyclists accounting for over 42% of fatalities. Furthermore, human rights reports indicate that 729 minors disappeared between 2022 and August 2025, while violent deaths of women have risen by approximately 8% compared to the previous year.
