León approves 2027 Snow Campaign for local schools

The Diputación de León has approved the 2027 Snow Campaign, an initiative designed to promote alpine skiing and winter station activities among students in the province. The program has a budget of 682,891 euros, an increase from the previous campaign's 534,323.56 euros.

The initiative is divided into three main lines: ‘Escuelas de Invierno’ (Winter Schools), ‘Un día en la nieve’ (A day in the snow), and courses for municipalities in the surrounding areas. The ‘Winter Schools’ program offers 2,492 places across the San Isidro and Valle Laciana-Leitariegos stations, with a preference for schools in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.

For the ‘Winter Schools’ weekly modality, the cost is 200 euros per participant, covering transport, instructor lessons, equipment, lift passes, accommodation, and meals. The daily modality costs 80 euros per participant and includes transport, lessons, equipment, and lift passes, though lunch must be covered by the participants or schools. Applications for the ‘Winter Schools’ program must be submitted by November 4, 2026, while the deadline for ‘A day in the snow’ is February 26, 2027.
