Guanajuato authorities seize 531 bottles of adulterated alcohol
Following a mass intoxication event at a quinceañera party in Salamanca, Guanajuato, authorities have seized 531 bottles of adulterated or counterfeit alcoholic beverages. The investigation, conducted jointly by the Fiscalía General del Estado de Guanajuato and the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), led to a search of a property in the Paseos del Miravalle neighborhood of León.
The seized inventory includes various brands and presentations, most notably 216 bottles of Centenario Añejo, 192 bottles of Maestro Dobel Diamante, and 102 bottles of 1800 Cristalino Añejo. Other brands recovered include Don Julio 70 Cristalino, Don Julio Añejo, Siete Leguas, and Buchanan’s.
The tragedy in Salamanca, which occurred in June 2026, resulted in at least five deaths and dozens of people suffering from severe intoxication. Because the offenses fall under federal jurisdiction, the Fiscalía General del Estado has transferred the evidence and the investigation to the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) for further action.
