León community launches educational toy drive for peace

The “Jugando por la Paz” (Playing for Peace) campaign is entering its final days of toy collection in León, Guanajuato. Organized by the Secretaría de Seguridad y Paz, Canaco Servytur León, and Fundación ProNiño Leonés, the initiative seeks to collect educational and positive toys to benefit families in the Las Joyas polygon.

Donation points are located at Plaza Mayor, Altacia Shopping Center, and the Canaco facilities. Requested items include puzzles, memory games, building blocks, musical instruments, and coloring books. The goal is to replace combat-themed toys with alternatives that encourage collaboration, dialogue, and safe community spaces.

The event will culminate on October 2 at the Centro Nuevo Comienzo, where the collected toys will be distributed to children and caregivers.
