León driving license services face collapse due to examiner shortage
The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) is demanding the hiring of nine permanent examiners and a coordinator to address the collapse of driving license services in León, Spain. The union reports that the current staff of six examiners is facing unsustainable workloads, exacerbated by retirements, medical leaves, and increasing demand.
Currently, over 3,500 applicants are waiting for practical driving tests. The union noted that León was excluded from a recent DGT temporary reinforcement plan that benefited other regions. This shortage is expected to worsen following a regional government initiative to subsidize driving licenses for youth between October and December, a deadline that may be unreachable for local students facing delays of over four months.
