León Gieco and Gustavo Santaolalla receive Doctor Honoris Causa

The National University of Jujuy (UNJu) and the National University of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands (UNTDF) have jointly awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Argentine musicians León Gieco and Gustavo Santaolalla.

The distinction, presented in Buenos Aires, recognizes their extensive careers and contributions to Argentine and Latin American culture. The award highlights their historical work, specifically the “De Ushuaia a La Quiaca” project initiated in the mid-1980s. During that period, the musicians traveled across the country to document folk music, instruments, and local traditions, resulting in several albums, a documentary, and a book.
