León increases sports and health school funding to 745,000 euros

The Diputación de León has increased funding for Sports Schools and Health Classrooms to 745,000 euros for the 2026/2027 season. This represents an increase of 130,000 euros compared to the previous call.

The subsidies are primarily aimed at municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, which will receive 725,000 euros, while 20,000 euros are reserved for neighborhood councils. The grants can cover up to 80% of eligible activity budgets.

Programs are generally scheduled to run between October 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027, though the deadline is extended to September 30, 2027, for traditional local sports such as Lucha Leonesa and bowling. New regulations for the upcoming season include a requirement for schools to have a minimum duration of five consecutive months, as shorter programs saw low demand in previous years.
