León infrastructure: Calls for toll removal and improved logistics access

Political and civic groups in León are advocating for significant infrastructure improvements to boost regional mobility and economic competitiveness. The Unión del Pueblo Leonés (UPL) has called on the Junta de Castilla y León to exert constant pressure to eliminate tolls on the AP-66 and AP-71 highways, arguing that current costs harm local businesses and territorial cohesion. UPL has also proposed urgent regional subsidies to reduce costs for users while concessions remain in place.

Simultaneously, the association León Propone and the Más Vuelos, Más Futuro platform are pushing for enhanced access to the León Airport and the Villadangos industrial park. León Propone is campaigning for a new road connecting the AP-66 highway directly to the Villadangos industrial complex. This project aims to divert heavy industrial traffic from the N-120 highway, facilitating the growth of the province's largest logistics hub and supporting new sectors like the drone industry. Additionally, proposals include paving a short stretch of road to provide direct access to the airport's passenger and cargo terminals.
