León invests over 850 million pesos in sports infrastructure

The municipal government of León, Guanajuato, has invested over 850 million pesos in sports infrastructure since 2021, with a target of reaching 1 billion pesos by the end of the 2024-2027 administration. Key developments include the rehabilitation of eight sports parks, the inauguration of the Ángel Camacho Aquatic Center, and plans for the construction of the León 450 Auditorium.

This investment is driving significant sports tourism in the region. For example, a National Youth Volleyball Championship recently attracted approximately 16,000 athletes and generated an economic impact exceeding 500 million pesos, as the event brought over 50,000 daily visitors to the city. Additionally, the budget for sports scholarships has seen a growth of over 505% since 2021.
