León Municipal Archive announces free Plaza Mayor history workshops

The Municipal Historical Archive of León has announced a new series of 15 free educational workshops focused on the history of the city's Plaza Mayor. Titled ‘La plaza Mayor de León. El mirador de la ciudad’, the program is designed for adults and will take place throughout September and October 2026.

Participants will explore the origins and evolution of the Plaza Mayor by analyzing historical documents, archaeological remains, maps, and photographs. The sessions aim to combine theoretical explanations with practical work, allowing attendees to engage directly with primary sources used by historians and researchers.

The workshops will be held at the Municipal Historical Archive, located on the first floor of the Centro de Interpretación del León Romano. Due to high demand in previous editions, prior registration is required for the 15 identical sessions, which are scheduled to begin at 18:00.
