León police arrest three following theft of religious statue

Three individuals were arrested by municipal police in León, Guanajuato, following a pursuit related to the theft of a large religious statue of San Judas Tadeo. The theft occurred on a Tuesday afternoon at a religious goods store located in the city center, near the Cathedral and Municipal Presidency.

Security footage captured the incident, which lasted less than a minute. The video shows three suspects entering the premises; one individual inspected the life-sized statue to check its weight before being distracted by an accomplice inside the store. This allowed another suspect to grab the image and flee.

The arrests took place in the western zone of the city after a chase. Authorities are investigating the theft, which occurred shortly before the feast day of San Judas Tadeo on October 28.
