León Provincial Council launches 25 women's empowerment courses

The Diputación de León, through its Women and Equality Programme, has begun the "Autonomía y Bienestar" project aimed at improving the integral wellbeing and personal autonomy of women in the province. The initiative will deliver 25 training actions—one in each Rural Social Action Center (CEAS)—using participatory, six‑session workshops that cover self‑care, needs identification, decision‑making, time organization, daily communication, relationship management and support‑network building.

The programme is directed mainly at rural women served by the provincial Social Services and is implemented by two local NGOs. The Asociación Valponasca coordinates activities in the eastern municipalities, while the Asociación de Mujeres Progresistas Bercianas handles the western zone. The project is overseen by deputy Francisco Javier Álvarez, head of the Social Rights area, and seeks to strengthen women’s participation in community life.
