León Provincial Council moves to protect municipalities from cyberattacks

The Provincial Council of León is coordinating with the State Agency for Digital Administration to strengthen the digital defenses of municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. This initiative follows the detection of critical vulnerabilities in web development technologies that could allow cybercriminals to access servers and information systems.

While websites provided directly by the Provincial Council remain unaffected and protected, officials noted that some municipalities using external providers may be at risk. The Council has issued electronic notifications to warn these local governments and has advised them to contact their technology providers to ensure they are using updated versions and necessary security patches.
