León railway services face criticism following Adif training center closure

The Partido Popular (PP) has accused the Spanish government of dismantling railway services in the province of León following the closure of Adif’s training facilities. The training activities are being relocated to Valladolid.

Local unions and media reported the cessation of training activities at the current site, citing facility deterioration and deficiencies. While the PP has questioned why necessary repairs were not carried out to maintain the building's safety and habitability until a new location is ready, the UGT union has also called for repairs to keep the center operational in the interim.

This controversy coincides with Adif’s plans to reorganize its railway facilities in León. The state-owned company previously announced a comprehensive rehabilitation project for the historic León station buildings, which includes integrating training facilities into that site. A tender for 1.16 million euros was issued for the design of these projects.
