León security: Homicides and drug seizures reported in Guanajuato

Security operations and violent incidents have been reported in the León and San Felipe regions of Guanajuato. In a recent raid on two residences in the San José de los Romeros community, authorities seized 753 cartridges, a firearm, and various doses of drugs, resulting in the arrest of three men.

Violence continues to impact the area, with a 20-year-old man killed in a shooting in the San José del Clavel neighborhood. Additionally, investigators are looking into the discovery of a mutilated body found wrapped in a blanket in the San Miguel neighborhood, which led to the detention of three suspects carrying drugs and an exclusive-use firearm.

Another body showing signs of violence was discovered by a scavenger on a dirt road toward Nuevo Valle de Moreno. These incidents occur amid rising tensions between citizens and municipal police; reports indicate an increase in fatalities and injuries resulting from confrontations between the two groups in 2026 compared to the previous year.
