León, Spain draws pilgrims and tourists with historic routes and sites

A scenic eight‑kilometre stretch of the Camino Francés runs through the municipality of Valdefresno just before León, offering pilgrims a tranquil rural landscape of fields, traditional adobe and brick houses, and small villages that preserve the rhythm of historic farmland. Along the way, pilgrim hostels, a restored washhouse and a village square with a fountain provide rest and hospitality, while a new roadside crucifix marks the approach to the city.
