León summer festival sales slump while El Cuyo beach festival sees record visitor surge

Vendors at León’s Festival de Verano 2026 reported a sharp drop in sales during the final week, attributing the decline to a lack of entertainment acts, limited operating hours and higher stall fees. One seller, Perla Esmeralda, said the absence of major performances and reduced opening times cut revenue by up to 50% compared with the January fair.

In contrast, the El Cuyo Beach Festival in Mexico’s Yucatán state recorded a significant increase in visitor numbers over the weekend, boosting hotel occupancy and generating higher economic spill‑over for local businesses. Organisers noted no major safety incidents and praised the smooth operation of the event, which attracted tourists from Quintana Roo and other municipalities.

Both festivals illustrate how programming and timing can directly affect commercial outcomes for regional events.
