León teaching staff question public school improvement funds

The Teaching Staff Board of León has raised concerns regarding the status of a two-million-euro improvement plan for public schools. The plan was reportedly signed at the end of 2025 by the President of the Junta, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, and the Mayor of León, José Antonio Diez.

Javier Ampudia, president of the Teaching Staff Board of León, expressed skepticism regarding the availability of these funds, suggesting the commitment may have been an electoral promise. The board noted that the City Council of León has only invested approximately 200,000 euros in painting spaces across 11 schools and 140,000 euros in various repairs. Union delegates have reported a lack of significant maintenance work in their centers over the summer, leading to accusations of a communication breakdown between the City Council and the teaching staff.
