León to award Gran Cruz Legio VII to eight former mayors

The León City Council will award the Gran Cruz Legio VII for Merit to the Local Police to eight former mayors of the city. The proposal was introduced by the current mayor, José Antonio Diez, who also serves as the delegate councilor for the Local Police.

The recipients include Antonio Silván, Emilio Gutiérrez, Francisco Javier Fernández, Gregorio Pérez de Lera, José Luis Díaz Villarig, Luis Diego Polo, Mario Amilivia, and Juan Morano. The distinction recognizes their collaboration with the Local Police and municipal services during their respective terms, which helped strengthen the institution and its prestige within the community.

The awards are scheduled to be presented on October 29, coinciding with the feast of San Marcelo, the patron saint of the police force. The initiative follows the established Regulations for Prizes and Rewards of the León Local Police Corps.
