Lena launches cultural initiative to preserve collective memory
The cultural initiative ‘Los Hilos de la Memoria’ has been launched in Lena to recover and disseminate the collective memory of the municipality. Driven by José María Montes, the project combines research, oral tradition, and new technologies to preserve local history that is often absent from formal historical texts.
The initiative focuses on investigating the context behind old photographs, documenting local characters, and recording stories of buildings and locations that have changed or disappeared over the last century. By utilizing historical archives, such as the collection of José Carlos Álvarez containing over 600 photographs, and the legacies of local chroniclers, the project aims to build narratives that connect the community to its social, urban, and industrial transformations.
