Lenferink Groep faces scrutiny over accounting and healthcare property conditions

The Zwolle-based real estate firm Lenferink Groep is facing intense scrutiny following investigations by Follow the Money (FTM) and EenVandaag. The company is accused of mismanaging millions of euros in its accounting records.

Beyond financial discrepancies, the firm is under fire for the substandard condition of properties it leases to healthcare organizations. Investigations suggest that several buildings across the Netherlands are defective, potentially harming vulnerable residents. One specific example cited is a convent in Tienray, Limburg, which an inspector described as ‘totaal ongeschikt’ (totally unsuitable) for housing the elderly due to issues such as mold and exposed electrical wiring.

Reports indicate that the company performs minimal and inexpensive renovations on its properties. The investigation also notes a tragic incident in 2023 involving the non-natural death of a resident at the Tienray location shortly after moving in.
