Leni leads waste management efforts at Danau Sipin

Leni, a former national rowing athlete, has transitioned into an environmental leader as the Chairperson of Bank Sampah Dayung Habibah. Based at Danau Sipin in Jambi, she leads efforts to manage and process waste within the lake area.

Leni’s journey from a competitive athlete to an environmental activist follows significant personal challenges, including the need to fund medical treatments for her child’s rare skin condition. After returning to Jambi to serve as a rowing coach, she addressed the environmental degradation of Danau Sipin by establishing the waste bank. Her initiatives have been supported by the Mekaar empowerment and financing program from PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero).
