Lenka Hamplová appointed CEO of České dráhy
Lenka Hamplová has assumed the role of Chairwoman of the Board and CEO of České dráhy (Czech Railways), succeeding Michal Krapinec, who resigned last week. Hamplová was appointed by the company's supervisory board without a competitive selection process.
Hamplová has spent nearly 20 years at the Ministry of Transport, rising from a secretary to the top director of the economic and infrastructure section. While she possesses extensive experience in state administration, including roles overseeing budgets and infrastructure, critics note she has not previously managed a large-scale commercial enterprise of this magnitude, which has an annual turnover of approximately 60 billion CZK.
Krapinec will remain with the company for one month to assist with the transition. Hamplová stated her initial priorities include studying the company's operations and seeking logical savings that do not compromise service quality, passenger comfort, or employee welfare. She aims to build a modern, competitive company by focusing on both efficiency and strategic investments to attract more passengers.
