Lenka Kořínková Overcomes Alcohol Abuse, Bulimia and Near-Amputation

Czech actress Lenka Kořínková, best known for her 1970s role as Maruška in the cult comedy *Holky z porcelánu*, later struggled with typecasting that limited her career. She publicly disclosed long‑term battles with bulimia and severe alcoholism, which culminated in a public incident in 2005 when she was found intoxicated on a roadside.

Two years ago she suffered a serious hand injury that threatened infection and possible amputation. After intensive treatment she recovered, avoiding the loss of the limb. Today Kořínková lives modestly, works as an English teacher, and says she values ordinary peace after years of personal hardship.
