Lennox Lewis names Evander Holyfield his greatest career rival

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has identified Evander Holyfield as the greatest opponent of his professional career. Lewis, who retired in 2004 with a record of 41 wins and 3 losses, reaffirmed this sentiment in public statements, noting that Holyfield stood out among the many high-caliber fighters he faced.

The rivalry between the two boxers was defined by two major encounters in 1999. Their first fight in March ended in a controversial split decision draw, a result that many observers believed should have favored Lewis. This dispute led to a highly anticipated rematch in November 1999.

In the second bout, Lewis secured a unanimous decision victory over Holyfield. This win allowed Lewis to unify the WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles, officially establishing him as the undisputed heavyweight champion.
