Lenovo launches hybrid AI platform to cut inference costs and boost Latin American adoption
Lenovo released the CIO Playbook 2026, a study of 500 senior leaders in six Latin American markets, showing that 97% of organizations plan to increase AI spending with an estimated 14% annual growth. More than half are already exploring or deploying AI agents, especially for cybersecurity, quality control and customer service, and expect a 2.8‑times return on AI investments.
The company also unveiled the AION project, a hybrid AI architecture that distributes workloads across CPUs, GPUs and accelerators. Using Intel Xeon 6 CPUs with AMX extensions and OpenVINO optimizations, AION achieved a 0.3 ms time‑to‑first‑token without GPUs. Simultaneously, Lenovo expanded its Hybrid AI Advantage portfolio, claiming token‑cost reductions of up to eight times and enabling inference on PCs, edge devices, data‑centers and the cloud, aiming to make AI‑agentic solutions affordable for enterprises of all sizes.
